What is MyRate and how does it work?
MyRate is an innovative, pay-as-you-drive auto insurance program offered by Progressive that puts you
in control of your insurance premium. You determine how much you pay for your insurance because your
rate is based on how safely you drive. Unlike most insurance rates that are based on average statistics
of many drivers, the MyRate program monitors your driving behavior and determines your individual rate.
If you’re a safe driver, you can save money!
If you choose MyRate, you’ll receive a small, easy-to-install device in the mail that plugs in
to the diagnostic port of most 1996 and newer model cars. It takes just a minute to install. Then all
you have to do is start driving. Information about your driving behavior is electronically transmitted
to Progressive.
You can view your driving data at any time by logging in to your policy at progressiveagent.com. You’ll
see what we see — and your information is secure.
How much can I save?
Savings vary by the state you live in and your driving behavior, but could include a 10% discount just
for joining the program and up to 25% savings with each policy renewal.
What information is monitored? What about my privacy?
Driving behaviors such as how far, how fast, and how aggressively you drive are recorded through the
MyRate device. The device cannot track your location or where you’re going. Progressive respects
our customers’ privacy and will not share your data with third parties without your consent, unless
required by law.
Am I eligible?
Ask your independent insurance agent if you’re eligible for the MyRate program, because eligibility rules do vary by state. MyRate is currently available to eligible customers in the following states: Alabama, Louisiana, Maryland, and New Jersey.
