Progressive Windshield Repair & Cracked Windshield Replacement
Damaged windshields often can be repaired, rather than replaced, under your insurance policy. However, specific criteria must be met in order to qualify for windshield repair service.
In general, smaller chips, such as a star or bullseye chip, can be repaired. Chips or cracks longer than 6 inches generally require the windshield to be replaced.
No deductible applies for a windshield repair completed by a glass shop within Progressive's network, provided you have Comprehensive coverage and your glass claim is covered.
Should my windshield be repaired or replaced?
If you answer "yes" to any of the questions below, your windshield may be a good candidate for windshield repair vs. replacement:
- Is your windshield damage less than 6" long (about the length of a dollar bill)?
- Does the damage to your windshield appear similar to the one star crack or bullseye chip below?

When you file your glass insurance claim, a Progressive claims representative can answer any additional questions you may have.
To get your windshield repaired or replaced as quickly as possible, just file your claim online.
Please Note: Some services described above are only available to customers who purchased coverages such as Comprehensive, Collision, Rental Reimbursement, Medical Payments, etc., before their loss. Coverage is subject to the terms of your policy. Please refer to your policy to verify which coverages you have.
