Progressive Glass Coverage & Glass Claims
Your insurance policy includes glass coverage and windshield repair service. The decision whether to repair or replace your windshield depends on the damage.
Rest assured, Progressive will work with you to make the process of repairing or replacing broken glass easy and convenient. You'll just need to start by filing a glass claim.
How do I file a glass claim?
If you need to file a glass claim, do it as soon as possible - before you have the glass replaced or repaired. Reporting your glass claim first prevents unnecessary costs to all parties. For example, if you have the glass fixed before you file a claim, you may end up paying more than necessary.
To file your glass claim online, simply log in and select the option to file an "auto glass only" claim.
Your insurance claims representative will determine if glass coverage is available, and work with you to arrange the repair or replacement of your windshield at the location you choose.
How long will it take to process my glass claim?
If your claim is covered, we will arrange for the glass repair or replacement at the location your choice — usually within 48 hours of notification.
What is covered under glass coverage?
Glass coverage varies by policy, and whether the glass is being repaired or replaced.
- If your glass is replaced, you will need to pay your glass deductible. If you use a Progressive-approved shop, or if another shop agrees to a pre-established fair and reasonable price, Progressive will pay the remaining cost beyond the glass deductible amount.
- If you have the appropriate coverage and the glass is repaired, Progressive will waive your glass deductible.
Windshield repairs are completed at no charge to you, regardless of your deductible, if:
- You have Comprehensive coverage and have sustained a covered loss, AND
- Your windshield can be repaired rather than replaced.
To verify which coverages you elected, please refer to your declarations page or

Do you have Progressive-approved locations to fix my glass?
Yes, Progressive has approved glass repair locations. Progressive works with Safelite Auto Glass, the country’s largest automobile glass replacement company, to complete your repairs. Safelite pledges a glass claim service commitment for glass repaired or replaced by Safelite for as long as you own your car.
If you own an RV or specialty vehicle, you may be referred to Duncan Systems to have your glass repaired.
